A remarkable site rare and protected species

The Saisies peat bog is a protected natural area that is home to a specific and diverse flora and fauna. It is also a very popular hiking site, with several marked trails enabling visitors to discover this remarkable site while preserving the area’s fragile environment. Facilities have been set up to enable visitors to discover the peat bog in a respectful and educational way.

The Tourbière des Saisies is an exceptional natural site: extending over 500 ha between 1550 and 1718 m altitude, it is the largest acidic peat bog in the Alps. It is home to rare environments and numerous protected species of flora and fauna. Since July 11, 2013, it has been classified as a regional nature reserve, complementing its status as a natural area of European interest (Natura 2000).
