The Enedis source station

On the occasion of the delivery of the 1st transformer, we were able to visit the new Les Saisies source substation. Here are a few photos, visuals and explanations to help you better understand the purpose of this vital facility for Les Saisies and all the surrounding communes.

A source substation is an electrical interface that transforms very high voltage current (225000 or 63000 volts) into medium voltage current (20000 volts) to supply distribution substations. From Ugine to Megève, this project will improve the quality and security of electricity supply to 9 communes in the Beaufortain and Val d’Arly regions.

Landscape integration at Les Saisies was a real challenge, given the natural setting (Regional Nature Reserve…) and the dimensions of the construction.

Once completed and backfilled, it’s hard to believe that behind this wood-clad facade lies a 3350 m² achievement. The building now blends into the hillside thanks to the greening of the roofs. The underground section allows the high-voltage lines to run underground, thus eliminating the need for 2 poles.
