Painter Constance Baudot presents her Horizon series in Chamonix: landscapes on the border between figurative and abstract. She plays with the graphic composition of the landscape and the colors it inspires. Her canvases are an invitation to escape.

Constance Baudot's work can be seen on the walls of LE MORGANE hotel. Her paintings are essentially concerned with open spaces. She is interested in the graphic composition of a landscape, the division of planes and the interweaving of elements. Each is called upon to enhance the other. She seeks ideas of escape, immensity and serenity. She prefers a stripped-down character, an emptiness of detail, to allow the eye to rest serenely and escape, without distracting artifice. She does not seek a faithful representation of a landscape or its picturesque vision. Landscape is all about light, space and emotion. Her work was exhibited at the last Salon International d'Automne in Paris in October 2022, and will be shown in Japan in July 2023. It has also been published by Lyon textile house Âmes Sœurs in a limited series of silk scarves.
She has signed various series:
- A Horizon series on the borderline between figurative and abstract, revealing a strong contrast between planes to emphasize notions of infinity and wide open spaces, carried by this abstract horizon line. In this series, the lines of force are horizontal.
- An Altitudes series, almost photographic, featuring the great Alpine peaks. With the same idea of immensity, she will seek out lines of force and the graphic aspect of the landscape, which is continually recreated by the play of light and shadow and the contrasts created on the snow. She will work more on verticality.
- An Urban series, sometimes more geometric, where she will enhance wide open spaces and architecture devoid of detail to show its mass.
Her techniques:
She works mainly in acrylic and oil. She works the material mainly with knives, brushes, fingers or diverted objects.
